Spencer Schumacker

Kings Asst Coach

Spencer Schumacher is from West Chester, Pennsylvania, and grew up playing locally for Chester Valley Little League in Malvern. His passion for baseball and coaching began early, starting his coaching journey at just 11 years old while assisting with a 7U softball team and coaching 8U baseball. From that point on, he quickly formed a love for player development, leadership, and the strategic side of coaching both on and off the field. He quickly shifted his focus to working with Middle School and High School level players and established a well respected reputation as a coach in the community.

Spencer attended Kutztown University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management with Honors along with a minor in Coaching and Athletic Administration. During his time at Kutztown, he authored a Capstone project titled The Study of Coaching Philosophy in Practice, focusing on the strategic art of coaching and effective leadership in athletics. He also completed an additional project centered on baseball drill design, strategic player development, and the optimal structure and operation of travel, recreational, and school baseball programs.

While completing his studies, Spencer obtained national accreditation through ASEP, earning certification in coaching principles and sport first aid. This also lead to him joining the National Coaches Registry. Upon graduation he was inducted into Chi Sigma Mu as a reflection of his work and dedication in the field of Sport Management.

On the field, Spencer brings extensive experience developed through more than 10 years of coaching. Originally a catcher, he has served in multiple leadership roles, including Director and Head Coach for Chester Valley Little League. During his tenure, he has helped lead teams to multiple district titles and appearances at the state level. He also currently serves as a coach at Great Valley Middle School.

Spencer is passionate about helping players grow both athletically and personally and looks forward to working with athletes who are committed to taking the next step in their baseball journey.

Alex Mihos

Kings-Co-owner & Head Coach

Alex Mihos grew up in Chester Springs, PA, inspired by his parents, Ari and Sabrina Mihos. A lifelong baseball player, Alex played for Glenmoore Eagle Little League, Coventry Little League, the Norchester Bulldogs, and later the PA Playmakers under Coach Nick McLaughlin, who helped transition him into a hard-throwing right-handed pitcher. Alex went on to pitch at Widener University, earning a degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Spanish.

Alex began coaching during college alongside Coach Nick, spending four years with the Playmakers before stepping into his role with Malvern Kings Travel Baseball. He continues to play competitively for the Towamencin Bats and has pursued opportunities at the professional level, including a tryout with the Lancaster Barnstormers.

Known for his player-focused approach, Alex is passionate about developing young athletes both on and off the field. His coaching emphasizes safe player development, baseball IQ, and honest guidance through the recruiting and showcase process. He credits much of his growth and success to the many coaches and mentors throughout his career, especially Coach Nick, whom he considers family.

Alex also takes great pride in his younger brothers, Dean and Theo Mihos. Dean helped lead Coastal Carolina University to Omaha during the 2025 College World Series run, while Theo represented Glenmoore, PA in the Little League World Series. Watching their success has been one of Alex’s greatest blessings.

Fluent in English, Greek, and Spanish, Alex believes in hard work, family, faith, and giving young players the opportunities to achieve dreams bigger than his own. One of his favorite quotes is: “I’d walk through hell in a gasoline suit to play baseball.” — Pete Rose

Kristy Mandato-McLaughlin

Co-owner Kings-Kristy

Kristy Mandato-McLaughlin is a co-owner of Malvern Kings Travel Baseball and serves as the organization’s Team Nurse. She oversees healthcare coordination, player safety and wellness, team finances, uniform and apparel coordination, and day-to-day team logistics and administrative operations, helping ensure a smooth and organized experience for players, coaches, and families.

With an extensive background in nursing and clinical operations, Kristy brings a proactive and preventative approach to athlete care. She began her nursing career in the hospital setting, spending three years in cardiac and medical-surgical care before transitioning into home care, where she worked for six years supporting patients following hospital discharge and managing conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary issues, back, knee and hip surgeries as well as wound care to help prevent readmissions.

She later spent two years in outpatient surgery. For the past 13 years, Kristy has worked as a telephonic nurse in healthcare navigation, focusing on preventative care, chronic condition management, and guiding individuals through the healthcare system to ensure they receive the right care at the right time—while also helping them make informed, cost-effective decisions.

She brings this same expertise to Malvern Kings, supporting players and families not only in the event of injuries, but also through preventative guidance—helping navigate care, connect with appropriate providers, and answer questions related to healthcare and insurance. She serves as a trusted resource for families, offering support both on and off the field.

While her baseball background began more recently, Kristy brings a lifelong foundation as a competitive athlete. She was a collegiate soccer player at Shippensburg University. She competed at a high level for over two decades before a career-ending ankle injury in her early 30s.

Kristy grew up in Northeast Philadelphia in a sports-driven family. Her father lived and breathed the game of baseball—playing into his 40s and, even in retirement today, continuing as a PIAA umpire for high school baseball and softball as well as men’s slow-pitch leagues. Through him, she developed a strong understanding of the game and what it takes to be a disciplined, committed athlete.

Her mother was equally influential—playing basketball throughout her youth and high school years before transitioning into volleyball as a mom, where she excelled as a true team player. Known for her ability to keep morale high, she was the kind of teammate everyone wanted, reinforcing the importance of leadership, positivity, and team-first mentality.

Together, those influences shaped Kristy’s mindset, work ethic, and appreciation for both individual performance and team dynamics.

Those experiences now translate directly into her role with Malvern Kings, where she emphasizes structure, accountability, and player development both on and off the field.

What sets Malvern Kings apart is its holistic approach to player development—something most travel teams do not offer. Families benefit from strong, experienced baseball coaching at a high level, combined with access to a dedicated nurse for healthcare guidance, a network of medical and physical therapy support for injury prevention and rehabilitation, and strength and conditioning programming led by a collegiate-level coach. This integrated approach not only supports player health and performance, but also prepares athletes for long-term development, including high-level play and future showcase opportunities.

Kristy is passionate about creating an environment where young athletes not only grow in their sport, but also develop confidence, resilience, and strong character both on and off the field.
